New Year Resolutions For Expectant Mothers

The new year is a natural time to reflect on your past actions and set goals. It signifies a fresh start, new adventures, and new experiences. If you are expecting your family’s new bundle of joy you may prioritize your and your baby’s health this new year. Below are sustainable New Year’s Resolutions that can make an impact for a healthy pregnancy.

  • Eat well

Some pregnant women may skip meals during the first trimester when they are experiencing morning sickness or nausea. You and your baby need essential nutrients that keep you and your baby healthy. Instead of skipping breakfast, consider trying different food items that may not trigger nausea. These foods include sweet potatoes, dairy products, nuts and seeds, green leafy vegetables, and fruits. Eating a balanced diet will ensure that your baby will get everything that he or she needs to grow healthily. 

  • Get active

During pregnancy, some pregnant women may feel tired more easily or may feel they lack the energy needed to perform daily tasks. Sometimes getting outside and doing extra activities can seem impossible without energy. However, being active can be healthy for you and your baby. You can opt for light exercises such as walking or prenatal yoga. Anything that encourages you to move around can help in boosting your energy, strength, and stamina.   • Get enough sleep

A healthy you during pregnancy means a healthy baby. Make sure not to overexert yourself. Get plenty of rest and sleep, especially during the early stages of pregnancy. Establish a good sleeping pattern early.

  • Avoid unhealthy foods

Certain foods can be tempting, especially when you are experiencing pregnancy cravings. However, some foods are not recommended during pregnancy. Pregnant women should avoid eating uncooked or half-cooked foods, raw eggs, or soft mold-ripened cheese, etc.

  • Spend time with your loved ones

Due to the sudden changes in hormones during pregnancy, many expectant women may experience stress, depression, or changes in their mood. Spending time with loved ones or discussing concerns with your doctor are good ways to ensure you start this year on the right foot.
