Rodney A. McLaren, MD, is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Long Island College Hospital/Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. McLaren completed his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Following his clinical fellowship, he completed an advanced research fellowship with Dr. Kypros Nicolaides, a world-renowned Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist, at the Harris Birthright Research Centre for Fetal Medicine at King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry in London, England.

Upon returning from England, Dr. McLaren served as a full-time faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois, where he cared for high-risk patients and taught residents and medical students. He later returned to Georgetown University Hospital as an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, focusing on patient care and the clinical education of MFM fellows, residents, and medical students.

In 2009, Dr. McLaren became the Director of Metropolitan Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He joined Greater Washington Maternal-Fetal Medicine, a division of Capital Women’s Care, in September 2026.
